Practice Questions
Concept Explanation
Tables arrange data in rows and columns. Read the title, row/column headers, and units before calculating.
How to Read a Table
- Identify what each row and column represents.
- Check whether values are absolute numbers, percentages, or ratios.
- For totals, add row-wise or column-wise as needed.
Calculation Shortcuts
- Total = sum of all entries (or of a row/column).
- Difference = larger value − smaller value.
- Percentage share = (part ÷ total) × 100.
- Average = sum ÷ count.
Example
Product sales: A = 120, B = 180, C = 100. Total = 400. B’s share = (180/400) × 100 = 45%.
Common Trap
Do not mix units (Rs. lakhs vs Rs. crores) or compare rows from different tables without matching categories.
-
Q1 Easy
A table shows product sales (units): X = 120, Y = 180, Z = 100. Total units sold are:
ExplanationTotal = 120 + 180 + 100 = 400 units. -
Q2 Easy
Monthly revenue (Rs. thousands): Jan = 60, Feb = 90, Mar = 120. Average monthly revenue is:
ExplanationAverage = (60 + 90 + 120) / 3 = 270/3 = 90. -
Q3 Easy
Region-wise sales: North = 200, South = 150 (Rs. lakhs). By how much does North exceed South?
ExplanationDifference = 200 − 150 = 50 lakhs. -
Q4 Easy
Quarterly output: Q1 = 240, Q2 = 260 units. Q2 exceeds Q1 by:
Explanation260 − 240 = 20 units. -
Q5 Easy
Category A = 25 and total of all categories = 100. A’s share of the total is:
Explanation(25/100) × 100 = 25%. -
Q6 Medium
Year-wise production: 2020 = 400, 2021 = 500 units. Percentage increase from 2020 to 2021 is:
ExplanationIncrease = 100. % increase = (100/400) × 100 = 25%. -
Q7 Easy
A table row shows Dept P = 45, Q = 55, R = 100. Total for the row is:
Explanation45 + 55 + 100 = 200.
-
Q8 Medium
Two products sold 80 and 120 units. Their sales ratio (smaller : larger) is:
Explanation80 : 120 = 2 : 3. -
Q9 Medium
Total budget = Rs. 500 lakh; known heads sum to Rs. 380 lakh. The missing head is:
ExplanationMissing = 500 − 380 = 120 lakh. -
Q10 Easy
Three stores sold 45, 30 and 75 units. The highest sale is:
Explanation75 is the largest value. -
Q11 Medium
One category is Rs. 150 lakh out of a total Rs. 600 lakh. Its percentage contribution is:
Explanation(150/600) × 100 = 25%. -
Q12 Easy
Daily counts: Mon = 40, Tue = 60, Wed = 80. Average per day is:
Explanation(40 + 60 + 80)/3 = 180/3 = 60. -
Q13 Hard
Batch A: 10 items at Rs. 50 each; Batch B: 20 items at Rs. 80 each. Overall average price per item is:
ExplanationTotal value = 500 + 1600 = 2100 for 30 items. Average = 2100/30 = Rs. 70. -
Q14 Hard
Table: Row 1 (100, 150), Row 2 (120, 130). Column totals are 220 and 280. Grand total is:
ExplanationGrand total = 220 + 280 = 500 (or 250 + 250).
-
DS1 Easy
What is the total sales from a three-product table?
Statement IProduct A = 120, B = 180, C = 100.
Statement IIThe largest product sold 180 units.
ExplanationStatement I alone: total = 400. Statement II alone does not give all three values. -
DS2 Easy
What is the average of three monthly values?
Statement IThe three values are 60, 90 and 120.
Statement IITheir sum is 270.
ExplanationStatement I alone: average = 90. Statement II alone gives sum but not count explicitly (though 3 months is implied in question).
-
DS3 Medium
What is the missing value if the row total is 500?
Statement IFour known entries sum to 380.
Statement IIThe missing entry is the largest in the row.
ExplanationStatement I alone: missing = 120. Statement II alone does not give a number. -
DS4 Medium
What is the percentage increase from 2020 to 2021?
Statement I2020 value = 400 and 2021 value = 500.
Statement IIThe increase is 100 units.
ExplanationNeed both values to compute (100/400) × 100 = 25%.
