Practice Questions
Concept Explanation
Marked Price (MP) is the price printed on the label — also called list price. Shopkeepers add a markup on cost price to set the marked price before any discount.
Formulas
- MP = CP + markup amount
- MP = CP × (100 + markup%) / 100
- Markup% on CP = ((MP − CP) / CP) × 100
Discount is applied on MP, not on CP (covered in the Discount topic).
