Concept Explanation

Percentage-based DI asks you to find shares, growth rates, or comparisons expressed as percentages from tables or charts.

Key Formulas

  • Share % = (part ÷ whole) × 100.
  • % increase = (increase ÷ original) × 100.
  • % decrease = (decrease ÷ original) × 100.
  • Successive change: net factor = (1 ± p/100) for each step.

Example

Sales rose from 400 to 500. % increase = (100/400) × 100 = 25%.

Common Trap

Percentage point difference is not the same as percentage change.
